The Ministry of Treasury Board and Finance is responsible for budget planning, financial management and economic analysis, and the administration of tax and revenue programs. In addition, the ministry undertakes policy and regulatory oversight of Alberta’s financial securities, insurance and pension sectors, as well as delivers centralized human resource services for government. Committed to responsible fiscal management, Treasury Board and Finance supports government’s fiscal targets by working closely with ministries to obtain funding for the core programs and services that maintain the Alberta advantage, while identifying areas for productivity-enhancing reforms. The Office of the Chief Operating Officer provides central executive leadership in the department of Treasury Board and Finance to advance high-priority, cross-government initiatives and ensure alignment with government direction, fiscal objectives, and Cabinet decisions. The office plays a critical role in translating complex policy direction into integrated, implementable approaches, while delivering timely, coordinated advice to support decision-making by senior leadership. Working across ministries and with key partners, the COO office drives enterprise priorities, manages emerging issues, and ensures consistency, discipline, and alignment across government.
