About The Position

VTG is seeking a Policy Analyst I with a TS/SCI Security Clearance to support our government customer in Washington, DC. The position is 100% onsite. The role involves serving as a policy analyst in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Counterterrorism, liaising with various bureaus and interagency partners to advance policy, advising leadership on special projects, and supporting diplomatic engagements. The analyst will participate in interagency meetings, prepare leadership for local and international events, conduct outreach to international organizations and NGOs, and research/prepare policy papers and briefing materials. Additional duties include supporting conferences, meetings, and high-level USG visits. On-site presence is required, with situational telework possible.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 2 plus years of experience preferred.
• State Department policy experience preferred but policy for another federal agency in areas of foreign policy, humanitarian assistance, foreign assistance, or counterterrorism could qualify.
• Able to be available for up to 20% overseas travel.
• Able to brief and work effectively with high-ranking officials of the State Department, other government agencies, and foreign governments.
• Have an understanding or ability to learn the paper process and other procedures at the State Department.
• Be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• The contractor must be able to learn and retain the policies and viewpoints of the assigned office as they relate to current foreign policy situations and Bureau program activities.
• Must understand interagency coordination and how to work across multiple organizations.
• Must have logistics experience related to convening or organizing meetings or conferences.
• TS/SCI Clearance required.

• Preferred areas of study are international studies, political science, national security, foreign policy, humanitarian assistance, foreign assistance, or counterterrorism.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a policy analyst in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Counterterrorism.
• Liaise with a wide array of regional and functional bureaus within the Department of State and the interagency on a routine basis to communicate effectively and advance the policy of the Counterterrorism Bureau.
• In coordination with the relevant regional and functional bureaus, advise the Office Director and Deputy Director on special projects in his/her area of responsibility.
• Support bilateral and multilateral diplomatic engagements involving the Secretary of State and other Department and interagency principals with relevant partners.
• Participate in interagency meetings as they relate to the areas of responsibility and help prepare leadership for various local and international meetings, speeches, and presentations.
• Conduct outreach to manage relationships with international organizations and NGOs as needed.
• Research, prepare, and review policy papers and briefing checklists on key topics across multiple regional issue sets and across various lines of effort.
• Support the organization and conduct of conferences and meetings, as assigned.
• Support other projects as directed, including high-level USG visits.
