About The Position

5 Star Chevrolet is hiring a dependable, mechanically minded Upfit Technician/Mechanic for its growing team. The upfit department outfits police, city, and fleet vehicles with emergency lights, sirens, computers, wiring, consoles, and other specialized equipment. The role involves hands-on installation, troubleshooting, and vehicle modifications in an air-conditioned shop. The position offers a $10,000 sign-on bonus, paid over six months beginning in the third month of employment; additional eligibility and payment terms apply.

Requirements

Mechanical ability and willingness to learn.
Comfort using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
Attention to detail and pride in quality work.
Dependability, motivation, and ability to work independently.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Willingness to submit to a background check and drug screen before employment.

Nice To Haves

Automotive electrical knowledge and wiring experience.
Automotive, fleet, aftermarket accessory, or upfit experience.

Responsibilities

Install emergency lights, sirens, computers, consoles, wiring, and specialized equipment.
Outfit police, city, and fleet vehicles to customer specifications.
Troubleshoot electrical problems and installation challenges.
Perform mechanical installations, modifications, and equipment mounting.
Follow wiring diagrams and installation instructions.
Ensure each installation works properly and meets quality standards.
