About The Position

The Springfield Police Department is seeking dedicated, dependable, and service-minded individuals to join our team as a Police Services Representative. In this critical civilian role, you will serve as an essential connection between the community and law enforcement by supporting officers, assisting the public, and maintaining accurate and confidential police records. As a Police Services Representative, you play a vital role in the daily operations of the Police Department. Your work directly supports officers in the field, assists citizens during critical moments, and ensures records and reports are handled with precision and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Requires a minimum of 2 years' experience in a customer-oriented atmosphere or in a high-volume customer call center OR Possession of 30 semester credit hours from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Office Systems, Business Administration or related area; OR Any combination of education and experience that would provide the incumbent with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain state certification as a MULES terminal operator as required by departmental assignment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Notary certification with the state of Missouri as required by department assignment.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid Driver's License in order to operate a vehicle for the purpose of completing job duties depending on assignment.
  • Must be able to successfully complete an intense security background investigation including a credit check; must possess no felony convictions, no misdemeanors, arrests, or other convictions that would prevent the ability to be MULES certified or access the CJIs database; must be able to work any assigned shift with varying days off.
  • Applicants must pass every phase of the testing selection process in order to be considered eligible for hire.
  • Proof of United States Citizenship/Authorization to Work in the United States as established by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986 is a condition of employment.
  • Pre-employment drug testing is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the public and department personnel in person and over the phone
  • Prepare, review, and process police reports and official documentation
  • Manage, maintain, and organize sensitive police records and files
  • Utilize department databases and computer systems for data entry, information retrieval, and tracking
  • Ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of criminal justice and departmental information
  • Provide professional customer service during both routine and high-pressure situations
