About The Position
The Southeastern Louisiana University's Police Department is seeking applications for a Police Sergeant. This role involves supervising a uniform patrol shift, which includes Police Officers (Levels 1, 2, and 3) and a Communications Officer. The shift schedule is either 5 am to 5 pm or 5 pm to 5 am, with rotating days off. The Police Sergeant reports directly to the Police Lieutenant - Uniform Patrol.
Requirements
- Three years of law enforcement experience.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Able to be certified through the Southeastern Defensive Driving Course.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required at the time of application.
- An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
- May be required to qualify annually with a firearm.
- Must be eligible for bond.
Nice To Haves
- Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 60 semester hours which substitutes for two years of experience.
