The University of Miami has a great opportunity for a Police Sergeant to work at the Coral Gables Campus. The Police Sergeant supervises subordinate officers and agents and maintains the chain of command within the operations of the department. Furthermore, the Police Sergeant develops training programs for department personnel and ensures the safety and security of all staff, students, and general public on university property and grounds. In addition to being assigned to the Patrol Division, a police Sergeant may be assigned to the Support Services function. The assigned Support Services Sergeant assumes additional responsibilities beyond those outlined in the general Police Sergeant job description. These expanded duties are offset by a reduction in routine patrol sergeant responsibilities to maintain a balanced workload. While the position typically aligns with regular University business hours, it requires flexibility and may include shift work to support patrol operations and/or special events management, as dictated by operational needs. The omission of specific duties from this description does not preclude the assignment of similar, related, or logically associated tasks or projects that support the objectives of the position or department.
