The Police Officer patrols the Hospital Campus to deter and detect criminal activity. This role responds to calls for service, documents allegations of a crime, protects persons and property, and advises on preventative practices. The officer performs preliminary and continued investigations, searches for and collects physical evidence, interviews witnesses and victims, and enforces criminal laws by arrest or non-arrest dispositions. Additionally, the officer will testify in court, answer emergency and non-emergency calls for service, and deter and detect crime utilizing efficient patrol techniques. The role involves investigating crimes by obtaining witness statements, collecting evidence, and processing crime scenes. Writing reports on alleged criminal incidents, follow-up investigations, arrests, and juvenile records is a key responsibility. The officer will prepare criminal charges, handle prisoners including booking and transporting, and respond to special attention requests. Efficient use of discretionary patrol time for self-initiated work and maintaining a condition of readiness to respond to critical incidents are also expected. Additional responsibilities include performing other duties as assigned, complying with all policies and standards, and abiding by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients.
