The Fishers Police Department is accepting applications for the position of patrol officer. This position aims to provide ongoing police services to the citizens within the city limits of Fishers, Indiana. This position is very complex and requires the officer to make decisions, take action, and perform processes frequently performed under extreme stress. The officer responds to dispatch calls covering areas where an officer might be needed. The officer receives these dispatch calls in the police car over a two-way radio. Only one officer is in a car. The types of situations an officer may need to respond to are varied. In addition, the officer patrols the City of Fishers general area and performs traffic enforcement duties. This activity is of an ongoing nature and is what the officer will generally do when not responding to calls from the dispatcher. Furthermore, the officer fulfills the administrative and judicial functions of the position and is required to attend all training functions sponsored by the department as ordered by a superior officer to improve or maintain his/her skills in a particular area.
