About The Position

Thank you for your interest in the Entry Level Police Officer position with the City of Altoona’s Police Department. Requirements

• Must be a United States citizen
• Must be 21 years of age on or before the date of employment
• Must be licensed to operate a motor vehicle
• Must have graduated from an accredited high school or have a Graduate Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.)
• Must be of high moral character and submit to a Computerized Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA) test
• All applications must be completed and submitted with a copy of your valid driver’s license, and applicable military documentation, to the Human Resources Department no later than Noon on Friday, September 25, 2026.
• All previous applicants will be required to reapply and repeat the application process in order to be considered for employment.
• The Physical Agility test will take place at 8:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 3, 2026 OR Saturday, October 10, 2026.
• Please refer to the MPOETC Physical Fitness Assessment Standards below.
• The Written Exam will be administered the same day to applicants who successfully pass the Physical Agility test.
• All applicants will receive notification of their Written Exam score and eligibility to participate in the Oral Interview.
• Applicants must meet the minimum qualification of 70% or greater on the Written Exam and Oral Interview to move forward.
• Oral Interviews are projected to take place the beginning of November 2026; with more information to follow.

• Must be physically and mentally fit for the full duties of a Police Officer
• Must agree to psychological and physical examinations if offered employment
