About The Position

The University of the University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Police Officer in the Campus Police Department. The Police Officer is responsible for helping maintain a safe and secure campus environment. Primary duties include patrolling campus grounds and buildings, responding to calls for service and community concerns, enforcing federal, state, and college laws and regulations, and providing security at campus events, including social functions and athletic competitions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Working knowledge of the Virginia Code.
• Ability to obtain authorization to carry a firearm.

Nice To Haves

• Certification as a Law Enforcement Officer through the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is preferred.
• Virginia DCJS Law Enforcement Officer certification is preferred.
