About The Position

The Sioux Falls Police Department is accepting applications for its next recruit class, with training beginning on October 26th, 2026. Responsibilities

  • Engage in community-oriented policing through various initiatives such as Hydrant Parties, Coffee/Shop/Cast with a Cop, Public Service Trunk-or-Treat, and the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
  • Participate in extensive training, including nine months with subject matter experts, eight weeks of in-service training, 13 weeks at the LET state academy, and 15 weeks on the street with PTOs.
  • Work a schedule that typically consists of four 10-hour shifts, providing three days off per week.
