This is an entry-level, non-sworn classification that includes pre-academy training and the police academy. The position requires exceptional customer service, ethical standards, and a Community-Based Policing philosophy focused on interaction and collaborative problem-solving. Responsibilities include responding to calls for service, providing public assistance, administering first aid, interviewing witnesses and suspects, preparing reports, apprehending suspects, enforcing traffic laws, investigating accidents, and handling juvenile matters. The role also involves serving subpoenas, serving warrants, testifying in court, and conferring with the District Attorney's Office. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, of good moral character, legally authorized to work in the US, and adhere to tattoo policies. Bilingual proficiency in English and Korean is required.
