About The Position
The Town of Beaufort is currently accepting applications for the position of full time Cadet Police Officer. The Police Department embraces the concept of community policing while providing police services to include traffic and criminal law enforcement, emergency response, investigations, and special events. The Department serves a public of approximately 4,300 permanent residents and a summer population that swells to over 10,000 residents, visitors and summer guests.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license at the time of appointment.
Nice To Haves
- Previous law enforcement experience
- Advanced education or advanced training in criminal justice or related field
Responsibilities

- Complete a pre-hire process that will include a background investigation, physical and drug test.
- Complete the Department’s orientation and field training program prior to permanent sworn assignment.
- Be eligible for immediate placement in a Basic Law Enforcement Training program.
