About The Position

Southeastern Louisiana University's Police Department is seeking applicants for the position of Police Officer 1/2. This role is part of a training series, and candidates will be hired as either a Police Officer 1 or Police Officer 2, depending on their qualifications. Police Officer 1 positions do not require prior experience, while Police Officer 2 positions require one year of experience in law enforcement work. Applicants must provide detailed education and work experience on their application, including whether positions were full-time or part-time and the percentage of time spent on specific duties, as this information is crucial for determining if minimum qualifications are met. Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
  • Current Civil Service test score for 2100-PSE-Protective Services Exam for Law Enforcement (unless exempted).
  • One year of law enforcement experience (or equivalent college credit substitution).
  • Not have been convicted of a felony or be under indictment on a felony charge without relief from disabilities.
  • College or university education must be from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
