About The Position

The City of Lufkin, Texas is administering an Entrance Examination for Civil Service Police Officer. The results of this examination will establish an eligibility list which will remain in effect for twelve months, or until such time as the list is exhausted. This position is an essential service position and will require providing services during emergency situations.

Requirements

Must be 21 years of age (no upper age limit).
High School diploma or equivalent.
Present a valid driver's license at the time of the test.
Appropriate clothing for physical agility testing (shorts, tennis shoes, t-shirt, etc.).
Must complete the application process on-line.
Must submit a copy of DD214 stating 'honorable discharge' from active-duty service along with the City of Lufkin Registration Form by 11:59 PM CST, Tuesday, October 27, 2026, if seeking military service points.

Nice To Haves

Lateral entry available for experienced officers.
Individuals who have served in the military and desire to have an additional five (5) points added to their passing score (70), must provide proof that they have an Honorable Discharge from active-duty service of 180 days or more in the United States Armed Forces.
