About The Position

Port Hope Police Service is actively recruiting for new police constables. They are seeking a diverse group of dedicated individuals who have a strong interest in serving the community by becoming a member of the Port Hope Police Service. Policing involves working and building relationships with people from many different backgrounds to ensure public safety through crime prevention and law enforcement. The Port Hope Police Service offers Police Constables a rewarding career in law enforcement with opportunities for training and advancement within the Police Service. The recruitment process consists of several steps, including testing, interviews, psychological testing, medical examination, and background checks. Candidates must successfully pass all steps to proceed. New recruits are required to successfully pass the Basic Constable Training Course at the Ontario Police College (OPC), which includes 3 weeks online and 10 weeks at OPC, to prepare them for their duties.

Requirements

  • Proof of Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Resident
  • Proof of current successful completion of OACP Certificate
  • Current First Aid Certificate and CPR Level “C” Certificate
  • OACP Medical for Hearing/Vision Testing Results
  • OACP Fitness logs and journals
  • Certificate demonstrating successful pass of the Level 7 of the Shuttle Run.
  • Proof of a valid driver's license (provided during Background Investigation Stage)
  • Pass a security clearance/investigation, credit and reference checks (provided during Background Investigation Stage)

  • Preference will be given to candidates that have demonstrated continuous learning beyond high school and are committed and involved within the community.
