About The Position

The City of Cedar Hill is seeking a Police Chief to lead its high-performing police department. This leader will guide the department in a city known for its community connection and support. Requirements

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in law enforcement, or related field.
At least ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in police operations.
A minimum of seven (7) years managerial level experience with a municipality of at least comparable size and complexity as Cedar Hill.
Valid Texas Driver's License (Class C ) required with an acceptable driving record.
Advanced or Master Peace Officer License from the State of Texas (or ability to obtain).

Nice To Haves

A Master's Degree is preferred.
Specialized training or graduation from either the FBI Academy, Southern Police Institute, Northwestern Law Enforcement Institute or Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas is preferred.

Leading the Cedar Hill Police Department personnel, programs, facilities, budgets and activities in a manner consistent with the City's vision, mission, values, and culture.
Ensuring that departmental operations keep current with best practices and procedures within the public safety profession.
Prioritizing premier customer service and strong community engagement.
Understanding that effective policing is rooted in trust, transparency, and consistent community outreach.
Developing internal talent and advancing thoughtful succession planning, ensuring the long-term strength, stability, and continued professionalism of the department.
