2026 Beverly Police Captain Sole AC w/E&E

Commonwealth of Massachusetts•Statewide, MA

About The Position

The Beverly Police Captain examination is administered under a delegation agreement to establish an eligible list through the Human Resources Division (HRD), from which a Police Captain vacancy will be filled. Candidates must successfully complete and pass the examination to be eligible for placement on the resulting list. The examination consists of a Sole Assessment Center, worth 80% of the final score, and an Experience & Education (E&E) component, worth 20%. The assessment center will be conducted by a third-party vendor selected by the municipality. Candidates must also submit a separate online Beverly Police Captain E&E Claim application; submitting it by another method results in a failed examination component. The eligible title is Police Lieutenant. To qualify, candidates must have permanent civil service status in an eligible title in the police department holding the examination and must have served in the force for at least one year since appointment while performing the duties of that title. Additional eligibility provisions apply to entry-level titles and Police Officers, including permanent experience following completion of an approved police academy course. The examination is scheduled for December 19, 2026; the examination location is to be determined. The resulting eligible list may remain in effect for up to two years, subject to applicable law and HRD policy.
