About The Position

Incumbents in this classification are considered a Cadet during the first 12 months with the Department. The first six months individuals will be in the police training academy and an additional four months with a Field Training Officer. Duties include attending class, taking exams and integrating classroom training on the job while working with a Field Training Officer.
SERIES LEVEL: The Police Cadet is the first level of a six level sworn police series.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and must be at least 21 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
• Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Participates in police academy training sessions which includes attending class, taking exams and integrating classroom training during training exercises.
• Performs duties of a Police Officer with a Field Training Officer monitoring activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
