About The Position

The Truck Pusher supports daily heavy haul and rig-moving operations by coordinating drivers, equipment, loads, and field activities. This is a hands-on position that works directly with drivers and field crews to safely and efficiently complete rig moves, including rigging down and rigging up drilling rigs and related equipment. The Truck Pusher works closely with the District Manager, Dispatch, drivers, customers, and field personnel to coordinate daily operations, address field conditions, and keep equipment and crews moving efficiently. This position requires strong communication, leadership, mechanical awareness, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced field environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in trucking, heavy haul, rig moving, oil & gas, or a related field.
  • Experience working with truck drivers and field crews.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy haul and rig-moving operations.
  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and load securement requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, management, customers, and field personnel.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand heavy equipment and transportation operations.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced field environment.
  • Must be willing to work varying schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and extended hours as operational needs require.
  • Ability to travel and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with rig moves, rigging, or heavy equipment transportation preferred.
  • CDL Class A preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the rigging down and rigging up of drilling rigs and related equipment.
  • Assist with mobilization, demobilization, loading, unloading, staging, and positioning of heavy equipment.
  • Coordinate drivers and field crews during rig moves and equipment transportation.
  • Help ensure equipment is properly prepared, secured, and positioned for transportation and operation.
  • Monitor field activities and communicate changes, delays, or operational concerns to the District Manager.
  • Assist with coordinating equipment and manpower during large or complex moves.
  • Work directly with field personnel to keep rig moves organized and progressing safely and efficiently.
  • Provide day-to-day direction and support to truck drivers in the field.
  • Communicate job expectations, schedules, routes, and customer requirements to drivers.
  • Coordinate drivers and equipment to ensure loads arrive at the proper location and within required timeframes.
  • Monitor driver performance and reinforce company policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Assist drivers with operational issues, equipment concerns, and jobsite challenges.
  • Promote teamwork, professionalism, and accountability among drivers and field personnel.
  • Communicate driver concerns or performance issues to the District Manager.
  • Promote and enforce West Penn Heavy Haul safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in pre-job planning, JSAs, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
  • Ensure drivers and equipment are properly prepared before beginning a move.
  • Monitor proper load securement, equipment inspections, rigging practices, and safe work procedures.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, incidents, equipment issues, or other safety concerns.
  • Support compliance with applicable DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and customer requirements.
  • Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions when requested.
  • Inspect trucks, trailers, and equipment for general condition and readiness before operations.
  • Assist with proper positioning, loading, unloading, and securement of equipment and loads.
  • Coordinate with maintenance regarding equipment breakdowns, repairs, and service needs.
  • Monitor equipment availability and communicate shortages or maintenance concerns.
  • Ensure equipment and loads are properly prepared for transportation and rig-moving activities.
  • Maintain regular communication with the District Manager, Dispatch, customers, drivers, and field personnel.
  • Communicate job progress, delays, changes, and completion status.
  • Complete required trip, inspection, load, and operational documentation.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate records related to trucking and field operations.
