About The Position

Puget Sound Energy is looking for a detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Pole Transfer - Project Manager I, playing a key role in keeping our communities connected and powered safely. The Pole Transfer - Project Manager Position I directs and manages the processes and activities dealing with Joint Use communication line transfers and stub pole removals when a distribution and/or transmission pole is replaced, damaged or removed. Project development may be guided with the assistance of the senior department staff. With guidance of PM or Senior PM, manages and executes projects with a clearly defined scope of work, which may involve multiple internal customers or departments, as well as external customers. Under the guidance of a PM or Senior PM, assists in coordination and communication tasks with other departments such as Engineering, Real Estate, Environmental, Permitting, System Planning, and Energy Resources. May draft simple contracts, monitor contracts and contractors. All PSE employees are expected to uphold the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities and promote and support a culture of total safety. Additionally, employees need to demonstrate commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct. All duties are to be performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations. This job is considered “safety sensitive” as defined in RCW 49.44.240 and is subject to pre-employment drug screening that includes screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
  • At least two years relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communications skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in scheduling, estimating, accounting and finance principles.
  • Customer-oriented, a positive, team-oriented and collaborative attitude, flexibility, an understanding of the business issues driving the need for the project, and solid work ethic are expected.

  • Experience managing small projects or programs.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and techniques to bring about agreement between divergent points of view. Ability to write clear, concise and direct narrative and reports.

  • General knowledge of techniques used to involve community members in development of project affecting their community.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates resources, provides oversight and direction to team members.
  • Assembles and leads multi-disciplinary project teams. Identifies the scope of an assigned project and decides logical action to meet project requirements and deadlines.
  • Facilitates communication between service providers and internal customers, which may include technical support at the direction of a project manager.
  • Responds to customer concerns and works with appropriate parties for resolution.
  • In support of PMs or Senior PMs, facilitates technical assistance to internal and external customers.
  • Applies general rules, standards and guidelines to specific technical problems.
  • Reports on project and program progress as directed.
  • Gathers, consolidates and analyzes facts in relation to project requirements.
  • Supports emergency response work as requested.
  • Perform JFN process and procedures ("Joint Facility Notification").
  • Knowledge of the NJUNS System (National Joint Use Notification System).
  • Processing Yellow Cards to get our Communication Partners to transfer their facilities.
  • Perform project closings.
  • Permit and TCP creation and submission.
  • Facilitate the removal of stub poles throughout PSE's service territory.
  • Leads Programs such as our One Touch Make Ready Program.
  • Leads Programs such as out Double Pole Blitz Program (removing existing double poles in the field that are deemed bare with no communication attachments present.
  • Interacts and coordinates directly with internal and external customers to understand project requirements.
  • Performs or manages the creation and updating of job work orders and project documentation including tasks, calculations, and reporting.
  • Conducts office and field research, measurement and verification of equipment data, and creates and updates equipment records.
  • Directs and performs data and records management.
  • Ensures compliance with codes, standards, and design, operation and maintenance requirements.
  • Coordinates the work of others who assist in specific assignments (including contractors/consultants).
  • Identifies improvements to and updates department standards, processes, templates, tools and databases with oversight from more senior team members.
  • Solves problems independently with ability to work around barriers.
  • Effectively communicates technical information to team members and internal and external customers.
  • Checks and reviews simple project work of others. Provides basic technical guidance to other personnel.
  • Supports emergency response work as requested including immediate and extended restoration efforts driven by weather and other system failures.
  • Projects may involve new construction, upgrades, uprates and modifications of the electric distribution and transmission system; substations; gas pipelines, district regulators and other gas facilities.
  • Projects also include the addition of new generation facilities and modifications and upgrades to existing facilities.
