About The Position

The Poker Manager is responsible for effective overall Poker operations in accordance with Squaxin Island Gaming procedures and internal controls, and the rules and procedures of the appropriate game. This role involves acting as the Poker Compliance Officer, monitoring casino operations for regulatory compliance, formulating and administering budgets, directing and monitoring Poker personnel, and collaborating with the Marketing Department on promotions. The position also includes planning and directing staffing, training, development, and equitable treatment of Poker personnel, selecting and supervising Poker Games personnel, ordering and securing gaming equipment, creating department schedules, approving payroll, participating in special projects, promoting positive customer relations and employee morale, staying informed of property events, attending mandatory meetings and training, maintaining confidentiality, and displaying sensitivity to Native American Culture. The Poker Manager must operate within the parameters of the Little Creek Human Resource Policies, Departmental Policies, and all other applicable regulations. The role directly supervises employees in the Poker division, responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation, carrying out responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and resolving problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality, Gaming Management, or related field preferred. A combination of education and directly related leadership experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive Poker or Table Games experience required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Poker Manager required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing departmental budgets, labor controls, and revenue-driving promotions.
  • Experience evaluating internal controls, procedures, and operational efficiencies.
  • Class III Gaming License issued from the Squaxin Island Gaming Commission

Responsibilities

  • Act as Poker Compliance Officer, responsible for monitoring assigned aspects of Casino operations to ensure compliance with NIGG and MICS regulations of the Tribal Gaming Commission and the company's internal controls.
  • Formulate and administer a budget in order to ensure profitability objectives.
  • Direct and monitor Poker personnel in on-going Poker operations.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department in planning and implementing departmental promotions, materials and advertisement.
  • Assist with shift supervision of all Poker games.
  • Plan and direct staffing, training, development and equitable treatment of all Poker personnel.
  • Select, train and supervise Poker Games personnel.
  • Select, order, and secure Poker gaming equipment.
  • Create department schedule and approve payroll.
  • Participate in special projects assigned.
  • Promote positive customer relations and high employee morale.
  • Responsible for knowing all events in the property.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and training.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Display sensitivity to Native American Culture.
