Poison Control Specialist
About The Position
Professional position that provides clinical information and recommendations regarding toxic or potentially toxic exposures received from health care providers and the public throughout the APDIC’s designated region. In addition, providing clinical information regarding the use of medications to healthcare providers and the public throughout APDIC’s designated region. Providing information and treatment advice to callers regarding toxic exposures or potentially toxic exposures. Creating and updating the electronic medical records created by these inquiries. Providing educational information on toxic substances and drug substances to callers. Assisting in the education/instruction of professional students and residents. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an Associate degree in nursing, Nursing diploma, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or Master’s degree in nursing.
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications and electronic medical record systems.
- Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
Nice To Haves
- Emergency department or critical care nursing experience.
- New graduate RNs with previous LPN experience in an emergency department or critical care setting will also be considered.
