About The Position

UPMC Presbyterian is hiring a Pharmacy Intern to join the Poison Center. This role offers a hands-on experience in a challenging environment to progressively develop operational and clinical skills in the field of pharmacy. The intern will work under the general direction of the Poison Center program Manager and Director, and general supervision of the toxicology Pharmacists and nurses. Services will be provided in compliance with state and federal regulations, Joint Commission Standards, and the mission and policies of the hospital and departments.

Requirements

  • Good standing in an accredited School of Pharmacy, entering P1 year or above.
  • Applied for intern license within 90 days of hire.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good computer skills.

  • Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy Intern License applied for within 90 days of hire
  • Act 34

Responsibilities

  • Answering toxicology calls and giving recommendations to callers under the guidance of a specialized toxicology nurse or pharmacist.
  • Assists the pharmacist with medication review, including but not limited to monitoring allergies and evaluating drug interactions.
  • Where applicable, complete clinical workload documentation (manual or electronic) by the end of each scheduled shift in accordance with Department procedures.
