This role is responsible for communicating and arranging financial obligations with patients, insurance verification, benefit verification and patient collections at the time of service.

Requirements

• Prior experience in medical office billing.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.
• Ability to accurately compute billing information, compute discounts, and compute payment plans.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Knowledge of insurance products, CPT and ICD-10 coding
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Runs provider schedules three days in advance for review.
• Verifies insurance eligibility for new patients.
• Calls patients with balances over $100 and documents conversations and instructions for FD staff.
• Sets up budget payment plans.
• Handles incoming patient bill calls.
• Collects patient balances, coinsurances and other patient responsibility at time of service.
• Proper documentation of patient accounts, verifying patient notes were followed, and review for proper documentation.
• Identifies and processes deceased and discharged patient accounts.
