About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Point of Care Lead to join our team at MelroseWakefield Hospital in Melrose, MA. This role provides day-to-day oversight of point of care testing activities (waived and moderate complexity) throughout the organization, including off-site locations. The Lead serves as a resource to provide operational and technical consultation to departments outside the Laboratory for point of care testing, identifying, defining, and resolving technical issues. They ensure compliance with accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements, and develop and maintain organization-wide policies for point of care testing. Additionally, the Lead coordinates the completion of competency assessments and proficiency testing, promptly notifies management of issues impacting regulatory compliance or patient safety, demonstrates proficient use of the Laboratory Information System and other hospital systems, and accurately investigates, corrects, and responds to billing-related questions and issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • 2 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience in Point of Care.

Responsibilities

  • Provides day to day oversight of point of care testing activities (waived and moderate complexity) throughout the organization, including off-site locations.
  • Serves as a resource to provide operational and technical consultation to departments outside the Laboratory for point of care testing.
  • Identifies, defines, and resolves technical issues associated with point of care testing.
  • Ensures compliance with accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops and maintains organization-wide policies for point of care testing.
  • Coordinates completion of 6-month and annual competency assessment, ensuring assessment is performed by qualified personnel, timeliness, and appropriate documentation of all required elements of competency.
  • Coordinates completion of proficiency testing, associated result reporting, and review of evaluation reports for point of care testing.
  • Promptly notifies direct manager of issues impacting regulatory compliance or patient safety.
  • Demonstrates proficient use of the Laboratory Information System and other hospital systems used to perform duties.
  • Accurately investigates, corrects, and responds to billing-related questions and issues.
