About The Position

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Point of Care Coordinator - Laboratory - Part Time, Days - Clinical Labs-Procure,Dist,Adm - Part-Tim. In this role, the successful candidate Working in collaboration with the Point of Care Manager, the candidate must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to oversee departments requirements at NYU Langone- Suffolk. This role requires effective collaboration with Nursing Professional Development and multiple hospital departments to coordinate, support, and ensure the consistent delivery of Point of Care testing throughout the organization.

Requirements

• BS in Medical Technology
• 4 years clinical laboratory experience
• NYS Education Department Clinical Laboratory Technologist License
• Analytical skills necessary to analyze data and perform mathematical calculations
• Strong knowledge of computer fundamentals
• Experience with laboratory information systems
• Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems
• Technical skills necessary to operate, maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation and perform routine and complex testing
• Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and effectiveness and quality of work reflect high professional standards
• Excels in training, leading and motivating people
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills
• Works effectively in high-pressure situations
• Clinical Lab Technologist-NYS

Responsibilities

• Assists in formulating and implementing organizational goals.
• Makes optimum use of department resources. Orders quantities that maximize dating, limit calibrations and minimize waste. Inventory is kept at adequate levels to maintain services. All orders are tracked from time of order to receipt. Problems are investigated and resolved before inventory is affected.
• Maintains composure in high stress situations. Remains calm and delegates responsibilities to staff.
• Comply with all safety recommendations and requirements.
• Shows strong self-management and organizational skills. Projects are done on schedule, and records are accurate and neat.
• Shows flexibility and creativity in response to changing conditions.
• Assists manager in reviewing all instrument test results to assure that laboratory protocol is being followed. Problems or errors are identified and corrected. Staff is informed of any breach of protocol.

• Assists in monitoring all documentation to assure that all policies and procedures are consistently followed.

• Assists in the review of all quality control data and patient data to verify accuracy of results and maintains documentation of remedial action.

• Does appropriate validation testing.
• Does correlations accurately.
• Performs monthly iQCP testing.
• Reviews iQCP for Point of Care for the annual review, Quality Assessment, Risk Assessment and Quality Control Plan.
• Maintains POCT corrective action log.
• Gives clear direction and effectively demonstrate routine and complex procedures.
• Effectively utilizes the computer to process specimens, report results and access information.

• Adheres to hospital/department dress code and arrives to work appropriately dressed, well-groomed and neat.
• Completes all hospital requirements at designated times (i.e. annual assessment, educational, NYU Langone Mandatories).
• Conforms to policies regarding confidentiality of information.
• Follows call-in procedure when sick, late or absent.

• salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $36.04 - $61.16 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
