About The Position

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Oversees the administrative and quality assurance components of the Point of Care Program. Assists in the adherence of regulatory requirements of multiple Laboratories and ensures the provision of an efficient and quality Point of Care Program.

Requirements

  • Meets qualifications of testing personnel in ahigh complexityLaboratory as defined in 493.1489 of the Clinical Laboratory ImprovementAmendments(CLIA)of 1988.
  • A four-year degree in biological, chemical, physical, medicallaboratory science,or nursing andatleast two yearsof direct POCT work experience,
  • ora two-yeardegree in medical laboratory scienceor medical laboratory technologyand four years of direct POCT work experience.
  • Working knowledge of CLIA regulatory requirements and/orlaboratory accrediting body, such as TJC,POC testing standardsrequired.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications or equivalent (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Evidence ofproficiencymay berequested.
  • Ability to schedule andfacilitatevideo conferences.
  • Advanced oral and interpersonal communications for training and supporting testing personnel with diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.
  • Excellenttime management and organizational skillsfor widelyvarying tasks across multiple locations and testing systems.
  • Attention to detail for accuracy in record keeping and compliance.
  • Critical thinkingforsuccessfully navigatingtroubleshooting and problem-solving in unique and unforeseen situations.

  • One yearofdata management experiencewithOrchard or similarLIS/POC software preferred.
  • Forfull-time employees, already hold a POC Testing Professional Certification oracquirecertification through AACC/ADLMor similarwithin one year of employment(reimbursement eligible).

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and analyzes all POC data for quality and accuracy.
  • Evaluatescomplianceand performance ofpersonnelin POCtestinglocationsand notifiesappropriatepersonnelwhen compliance is not met.
  • Prepares,reviews, andsubmitsquality reportstothe POC Laboratory Director.
  • Develops and maintains POC procedures, policies, and other technical documents.
  • Collaborates with other departments on POC-related processes (supplies, workflow, staffing, etc.)
  • Optimizesexisting POC testing systemsand data managementfor efficiency and costs associated with POCoperations.
  • Coordinatesthe evaluation and implementationofnew POC testing systemsunder BBAHCguidelines.
  • Communicateswith IT,LIS Coordinator, or Technical Supporton computer,interface, or test systemissues asappropriate.
  • Ensures CLIA regulationsandPOCJoint CommissionStandards(theaccreditingbody ofHospital and Village Clinics)are met byeach POC testing site.
  • Develops and deploys training and competency assessment materials.
  • Assistswithimplementationoftraining, orientation,and competencyassessments, including documentation,forall POC testing personnel and POC staff.
  • Helps with coverage in themain laboratoryas neededand as authorized.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
