About The Position

The Podiatrist at Whitney Young Health provides specialized care in examination, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of foot disorders, both medically and surgically. Ensures optimum safe environment and ensures compliance with local, state and federal requirements (i.e. OSHA, JCAHO, NYSDOH) within the Podiatry office.

Requirements

  • Pre-science degree, college level.
  • Successful completion of a four-year course from an accredited college of podiatric medicine.
  • Certification from either a national or state examining board for podiatric medicine.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service, good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of managed care requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Elective one to three-year residency program for specialized surgical training.
  • One to three years clinical experience.
  • Board certification in Podiatric Surgery.

Responsibilities

  • See patients on a scheduled or urgent care basis for podiatric problems, including conditions such as corns, calluses, warts, bunions, hammertoes, fungus nails, fungal skin diseases, ingrown toenails, pedal tumors, heel spurs, athlete’s foot, and Morton’s neuroma.
  • Consult with and refer to Primary Care Physicians within or outside of WMYHC for systemic diseases that manifest in the foot, such as diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, heart disease, arthritis, gout, and arteriosclerosis.
  • Participate in continuing medical education and quality assurance programs.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and provide a safe and confidential environment.
  • Ensure proper completion of required Medical Record documentation using WMYHC’s EHR.
  • Comply with CMS’s Meaningful Use measures.
  • Keep patients informed of delays.
  • Maintain required licenses.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities as required.
  • Demonstrate excellence in both internal and external customer service.
  • Effectively communicate HIPAA compliance, corporate compliance, and client confidentiality.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, NYSDOH, and NCQA-PCMH).
  • Adhere to the National Patient Safety Goals as defined by the Joint Commission and the Whitney M. Young Jr. Health Services.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
