About The Position

AMD, Inc. is hiring a PMTS Software Development Engineer to analyze AMD strengths and weaknesses in application performance and identify performance bottlenecks. The engineer will use available tools and/or source code to determine the nature of bottlenecks, design solutions or workarounds, and work with AMD architecture specialists to improve future products. The role applies a data-minded approach to optimization, researches more efficient ways to accomplish work, and promotes those approaches to software vendors. The position develops technical relationships with peers at partner software vendors, tracks software and hardware trends—especially in algorithms and architecture—and contributes performance improvements to open-source projects while identifying other applications that may benefit. The engineer is expected to specialize in mainstream CPU performance characteristics and apply knowledge of computers, electronics, engineering principles, design techniques, tools, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of proprietary products. The posting says the role can be performed remotely and that travel is not required.
