About The Position

The Zone Proctor will provide preventive and corrective maintenance services and repairs for various building systems and components at the Anschutz Campus. This includes minor service and repairs on infrastructure, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and the BAS system. The Zone Proctor will respond to emergencies and trouble calls about heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and utility system failures and interruptions. The Zone Proctor will collaborate with trades, clients, and project managers to ensure the proper installation, repairs, and operations of facility systems and components. Other responsibilities of the position include serving as project representative for small and large projects and quality assurance surveys for the zone team.

Requirements

  • Three years of progressively responsible pipe and/or mechanical trades experience related to HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing.
  • Must be a resident of the state of Colorado at the time of application.
  • Must possess and maintain a current, valid State of Colorado Driver’s License.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle check, and drug test.
  • Subject to pre-employment, post-accident incident, or reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing per CU Facility Operations Department Policies.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates corrective maintenance issues to determine what the problem is and what needs to be done to rectify the problem or who should be consulted for further direction.
  • Respond to emergencies or trouble calls about heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and utility system failures and interruptions.
  • Evaluate the operation of malfunctioning or dilapidated equipment and components and decide or recommend between replacement and repair options. i.e., fans, pumps, motors, bearings, and air compressors.
  • Sets priorities on work assigned to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Monitors, services, repairs, and/or installs building systems and components for the Anschutz campus.
  • Determines whether the repair can be made or if it would be more cost-effective to purchase a replacement.
  • Uses the manufacturer’s specifications and operating procedures, with standard trade practices, to evaluate the operations of building systems, equipment, and components.
  • Speaks to customers and staff in an informative manner regarding work service requests and any ongoing issues in their area of responsibility.
