About The Position

This role provides clerical support to Outpatient Rehabilitation services across multiple locations. Key responsibilities include patient registration, appointment scheduling, and processing Point of Service Collections. The position also involves general office duties and requires the ability to navigate electronic medical record systems and interpret insurance information for patients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Combination of education and experience.
  • BLS by the AHA within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Registration of all new patients, ensuring accuracy of demographic information, insurance details, and therapy service orders. All patients must be checked in prior to the start of therapy on each visit.
  • Scheduling of new referrals and recurring appointments for multiple areas, including scheduling by diagnosis and discipline (PT/OT/ST) to the correct diagnostic team based on physician referral and prescription. This includes managing cancellations and rescheduling.
  • Point of Service collection for current and previous balances.
  • General Office Duties, including answering multi-line telephones, faxing, and filing.
  • Preparation of Medical Records for scanning.
  • Customer Service – Ability to address multiple customers (patients, families, co-workers, physicians, etc.) using AIDET skills, presenting courteous behaviors and a polite approach during all interactions, both face-to-face and via telephone.
  • Ability to navigate the electronic medical record system and complete daily assignments within the system.
  • Ability to interpret insurance information to the patient, including plan deductibles, out-of-pocket costs, and applicable benefits for therapy services.
  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of Outpatient Rehabilitation Service Lines.
