About The Position

This role provides clerical support to Outpatient Rehabilitation services across multiple locations. Key responsibilities include patient registration, appointment scheduling, and processing Point of Service Collections. The position also involves general office duties and requires effective customer service skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • BLS by the AHA within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to make sure that all registration information is correct including demographic information, insurance information and correct order for therapy services.
  • Ability to schedule referrals by diagnosis and discipline (PT/OT/ST) to correct diagnostic team based on physician referral and prescription.
  • Ability to schedule multiple discipline patients.
  • Ability to navigate the electronic medical record system and complete assignments within the system daily.
  • Ability to interpret insurance information to the patient. This information includes plans deductible and out of pocket and the benefits that apply for therapy services.
  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of Outpatient Rehabilitation Service Lines.

Responsibilities

  • Registration of all new patients, ensuring accuracy of demographic information, insurance details, and therapy service orders. Patients must be checked in before each therapy session.
  • Scheduling new referrals and recurring appointments for multiple areas, accurately assigning patients to the correct diagnostic team based on diagnosis, discipline (PT/OT/ST), and physician referral. This includes managing cancellations and rescheduling.
  • Point of Service collection for current and previous patient balances.
  • General office duties such as answering multi-line telephones, faxing, and filing.
  • Preparation of Medical Records for scanning.
  • Providing customer service to patients, families, co-workers, and physicians using AIDET skills, maintaining courteous and polite interactions in all settings.
  • Navigating and completing assignments within the electronic medical record system daily.
  • Interpreting insurance information for patients, including details on deductibles, out-of-pocket expenses, and applicable benefits for therapy services.
  • Demonstrating appropriate knowledge of Outpatient Rehabilitation Service Lines.
