About The Position

The PMO Director is a subject matter expert responsible for the governance and successful delivery of the organization's project and program portfolio. This role sets the standards, processes, and best practices that drive consistency and alignment, and owns the integrated planning, financial controls, and executive reporting that keep major programs on schedule and on budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 8-10 years relevant experience, including large multi-workstream programs, or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job discipline or field.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.
  • Proficient with enterprise scheduling and PPM tools (MS Project, Primavera P6, or similar) and Microsoft Office.
  • High degree of professionalism, judgment, maturity, and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP, PgMP, or equivalent program management certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and manages the framework, standards, and methodologies for project and program management.
  • Leads the planning, execution, and monitoring of high-impact projects and programs to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Partners with stakeholders to define scope, timelines, success metrics, and expected benefits, and tracks benefits realization.
  • Owns the integrated master schedule, managing critical path, baselines, and interdependencies across workstreams.
  • Owns risk, issue, and change control processes, including escalation paths and change control board review.
  • Establishes the governance cadence: steering committees, decision rights, and executive reporting on status and risks.
  • Oversees program financial controls, including cost tracking, forecast versus actual, and variance reporting.
  • Manages resource and capacity planning across the portfolio, including staffing plans and PM allocation.
  • Leads, mentors, and develops project and program managers, building bench strength across the PMO.
  • Continuously evaluates and improves the PMO’s effectiveness, including the tools and technologies that enhance project management capabilities.
  • Contributes to departmental strategy, goal development, and key business objectives.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
