About The Position

The Evening Shift Supervisor provides leadership, therapeutic support, and direct supervision to Behavioral Health Practitioners and Residential Counselors. This position is responsible for cultivating a safe, therapeutic, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and healing-centered environment that promotes the wellbeing, growth, and success of youth, families, and staff. The Shift Supervisor ensures operational excellence through staff development, treatment implementation, quality assurance, and the consistent delivery of whole-person, relationship-based care. The position serves as a role model for professionalism, ethical practice, accountability, and therapeutic engagement while supporting a culture of continuous learning and excellence.

Requirements

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience.
  • MN Statute 245I Mental Health Practitioner qualification.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience
  • Must be 21 year of age or older with a current and valid Driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of direct-care experience with youth, including one year of residential or closely related experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise assigned Behavioral Health Practitioners and Residential Counselors.
  • Provide reflective supervision, coaching, mentoring, and professional development support that fosters staff growth, engagement, and effectiveness.
  • Conduct routine one-on-one supervision sessions, professional development planning, performance evaluations, and ongoing feedback conversations.
  • Monitor staff performance, accountability, professionalism, ethical conduct, and adherence to organizational mission, values, and policies.
  • Provide recognition, coaching, corrective action, mentorship, and support that promotes continuous improvement and professional excellence.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, and retention.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of individualized treatment plans, behavior support plans, safety plans, and clinical direction and recommendations from the clinical team.
  • Promote a whole-person approach addressing emotional, behavioral, social, developmental, educational, cultural, and wellness needs.
  • Provide real-time coaching regarding trauma-informed care, co-regulation strategies, therapeutic communication, and relationship-based interventions.
  • Support staff during situations involving heightened distress, elevated support needs, de-escalation efforts, and therapeutic intervention.
  • Review documentation to ensure records are timely, accurate, clinically meaningful, and compliant.
  • Promote documentation practices reflecting interventions, strengths, progress, outcomes, and support needs.
  • Uphold HIPAA, confidentiality requirements, ethical conduct, professional boundaries, and resident dignity.
  • Support implementation of corrective actions identified through audits, reviews, licensing activities, and quality improvement processes.
  • Coordinate staffing assignments and workload distribution based on resident needs, therapeutic priorities, staff strengths, resident acuity, and operational requirements.
  • Ensure staff have the resources and support necessary to provide safe, effective, and therapeutic services.
  • Lead and participate in collaborative problem-solving efforts that improve outcomes.
  • Serve as the designated supervisor during emergencies and situations requiring enhanced resident support.
  • Coordinate evening and weekend therapeutic programming, recreation, and structured activities.
  • Ensure quality and consistency of recreational programming.
  • Develop and maintain evening activity calendars.
  • Monitor youth engagement during non-school hours.
  • Support family engagement and visitation activities as assigned.
  • Ensure completion of evening routines and preparation for overnight operations.
  • All other duties as assigned.
