The Physician will provide professional medical services on a full-time basis to patients of assigned hospital(s). Such services shall include those services which are customarily performed by physicians practicing in the specialty of physical and rehabilitation medicine, including rounding and consultations on patients. The Physician will collaborate with the Facility’s leadership, staff, and other practitioners and consultants to help develop, implement, and evaluate patient care policies and procedures that reflect current standards of practice. The Physician will also help the Facility identify, evaluate, and address/resolve medical and clinical concerns and issues that affect patient care, medical care, or quality of life, or are related to the provision of services by physicians and other licensed health care practitioners. This includes the evaluation, diagnosis, consultation, and management of patients with physical and/or cognitive impairment and disability, including the diagnosis and treatment of patients with painful or functionally limiting conditions, the management of co-morbidities and co-impairments, diagnostic and therapeutic injection procedures, electro-diagnostic medicine, and emphasis on the prevention of complications of disability from secondary conditions. The Physician will assess, stabilize, and determine the disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with Medical Staff Policy regarding Emergency and Consultative call services. Privileges also include the physical examination of pain, weakness, and numbness (neuromuscular and musculoskeletal) using a diagnostic plan or prescription for treatment that may include the use of physical agents or other interventions, and evaluation, prescription, and supervision of medical and comprehensive rehabilitation goals and treatment plans. The Physician will admit patients to inpatient or other levels of care for treatment, perform general history and physical examinations, pre-admission assessments, day 4 Plan of Care reviews, and approve pre-admission screenings. The Physician is responsible for performing prompt, courteous, and competent professional services in accordance with generally accepted professional standards. Performance of administrative services may be reasonably required. The Physician is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of complete and accurate medical and other records in accordance with generally accepted medical practice and in compliance with mandated regulatory, legal, and/or accrediting standards, including but not limited to Pre-Admission Screenings (PAS), Individualized Plan of Care (IPOC), leading the interdisciplinary team conference, Progress Notes which include face-to-face visits, Admission Orders, Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI), and other records, reports, claims, and correspondence relating to the services and treatment rendered by the Physician for or on behalf of Employer.
