The PM&R Physician will report to the Chief Medical Officer for clinical matters and the Hospital Chief Executive Officer or his or her designee for administrative matters. This full-time position involves providing professional medical services to patients of assigned hospital(s), including rounding and consultations. The physician will collaborate with facility leadership, staff, and other practitioners to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care policies and procedures, and to identify, evaluate, and resolve medical and clinical concerns affecting patient care, quality of life, or the provision of services. Key responsibilities include the evaluation, diagnosis, consultation, and management of patients with physical and/or cognitive impairments and disabilities, including painful or functionally limiting conditions, co-morbidities, diagnostic and therapeutic injection procedures, electro-diagnostic medicine, and the prevention of complications of disability. The physician will also assess, stabilize, and determine the disposition of patients with emergent conditions, perform physical examinations of pain, weakness, and numbness, and develop diagnostic plans or prescriptions for treatment. This role involves admitting patients to inpatient or other levels of care, performing general history and physical examinations, pre-admission assessments, and reviewing/approving pre-admission screenings. The physician is responsible for prompt, courteous, and competent professional services, including administrative duties as reasonably required. Accurate and complete medical records must be maintained in compliance with all applicable standards and regulations, including PAS, IPOC, leading interdisciplinary team conferences, progress notes, admission orders, IRF-PAI, and other relevant documentation.
