About The Position

Physicians will provide professional medical services on a full-time basis to patients of assigned hospital(s). Such services shall include those services which are customarily performed by physicians practicing in the specialty of physical and rehabilitation medicine, including rounding and consultations on patients. Physicians will collaborate with facility leadership, staff, and other practitioners to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care policies and procedures. They will help identify, evaluate, and address medical and clinical concerns affecting patient care, quality of life, or the provision of services by healthcare practitioners. This role involves the evaluation, diagnosis, consultation, and management of patients with physical and/or cognitive impairments and disabilities, including the treatment of painful or functionally limiting conditions, management of co-morbidities, diagnostic and therapeutic injection procedures, electro-diagnostic medicine, and prevention of secondary complications. Physicians will also assess and manage emergent conditions, perform physical examinations of neuromuscular and musculoskeletal systems, and develop treatment plans. Responsibilities include admitting patients, performing history and physical examinations, conducting pre-admission assessments, reviewing and approving pre-admission screenings, and leading interdisciplinary team conferences. Accurate and complete medical record maintenance is required, complying with all regulatory, legal, and accrediting standards.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Current state medical license.
  • Successful completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited Residency training program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
  • Current practice in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
  • Skills in Inclusiveness, Stewardship and Resource Management, Communication, Decision-Making, Problem-Solving, Quality Improvement, Teamwork, Strategic Planning and Organizing.

Nice To Haves

  • Current certification or active participation in the examination process leading to certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation or the American Osteopathic Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional medical services on a full-time basis.
  • Perform rounding and consultations on patients.

  • Manage co-morbidities and co-impairments.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic injection procedures.
  • Utilize electro-diagnostic medicine.
  • Focus on the prevention of complications of disability from secondary conditions.
  • Assess, stabilize, and determine the disposition of patients with emergent conditions.
  • Perform physical examinations of pain, weakness, and numbness (neuromuscular and musculoskeletal).
  • Develop diagnostic plans or prescriptions for treatment.
  • Evaluate, prescribe, and supervise medical and comprehensive rehabilitation goals and treatment plans.
  • Admit patients to inpatient or other levels of care for treatment.
  • Perform general history and physical examinations.
  • Perform pre-admission assessments.
  • Perform day 4 Plan of Care reviews.
  • Review and approve of pre-admission screenings.
  • Perform prompt, courteous, and competent professional services.
  • Perform administrative services as reasonably required.
  • Prepare and maintain complete and accurate medical and other records in compliance with mandated standards.
  • Complete Pre-Admission Screenings (PAS), Individualized Plan of Care (IPOC), and lead interdisciplinary team conferences.
  • Write Progress Notes, including face-to-face visits.
  • Write Admission Orders.
  • Complete Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI) and other records, reports, claims, and correspondence.
