About The Position

The PM Engineer I is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and basic repairs to maintain the hotel's facilities, guest rooms, public areas, mechanical systems, and equipment in a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing condition. This position supports the Engineering team by completing scheduled preventive maintenance, responding to guest and departmental service requests, and ensuring the property reflects The Loren Hotel Austin standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • 1-3 years of general building maintenance, hotel engineering, apartment maintenance, or commercial facilities experience, preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of: Electrical systems, Plumbing systems, HVAC, Carpentry, Painting and finishing, General building maintenance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues and determine appropriate corrective action.
  • Experience using work order management systems preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and guest service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, kneel, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, mechanical rooms, rooftops, and outdoor environments.
  • Comfortable working around electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-ins.

  • Technical or vocational training, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on guest rooms, public spaces, meeting rooms, back-of-house areas, and hotel equipment according to the preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Complete assigned work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests while delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Perform basic repairs including: Plumbing fixtures and minor leaks, Electrical fixtures such as switches, outlets, and light fixtures, Drywall repair and painting, Door, lock, and hardware adjustments, Furniture repair, Tile, grout, and caulking repairs, Replace HVAC filters and perform routine inspections of HVAC equipment.
  • Inspect guest rooms for maintenance deficiencies and complete corrective work before rooms are returned to service.
  • Maintain swimming pool and exterior areas as assigned (if applicable).
  • Assist with routine inspections of life safety equipment.
  • Maintain hotel grounds and exterior appearance, including lighting and cleanliness of engineering-related areas.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and maintenance equipment safely.
  • Maintain accurate records of preventive maintenance activities and completed work orders.
  • Report equipment failures and safety concerns immediately.
  • Assist with room renovations and capital improvement projects.
  • Support emergency response procedures including fire alarms, power outages, water leaks, and severe weather events.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop and storage areas.
  • Follow all OSHA, safety, and company policies.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and required training.
  • Perform other duties as requested by leadership
