Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (minimum)
  • Minimum 2 years of journey-level experience in one or more of the following: Municipal or county plumbing inspection services, Commercial/industrial plumbing construction (especially data-center or high-availability facilities), Plumbing contracting or QA/QC roles
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret plumbing drawings, specifications, and code-compliant details.
  • Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners – Valid Plumbing Inspector license or Master/Journeyman plumber license (must be current).
  • ICC (International Code Council) or equivalent certification in Plumbing (mandatory).
  • Valid Texas driver’s license (required).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Plumbing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
  • Additional multi-discipline certifications (e.g., fire-suppression, medical-gas) are a plus.
  • OSHA 30-hour construction safety certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Examine construction drawings, specifications, and single-line diagrams for plumbing systems (water supply, drainage, fire-suppression, condensate, and gas) to verify compliance with IPC/UPC, Texas plumbing codes, and client data-center standards.
  • Perform on-site inspections of water-distribution piping, pressure-reducing valves, and back-flow preventers; drainage, vent, and waste-water systems; fire-suppression (e.g., pre-action, FM-200, CO₂) and sprinkler wet-pipe systems; condensate and cooling-tower plumbing; and mechanical-room plumbing (boilers, chillers, UPS battery rooms).
  • Verify that contractors follow approved plans, quality-control checklists, and industry best practices; identify deviations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Generate written and electronic inspection reports, issue Notices of Correction (NoCs), and maintain accurate inspection logs and photographic records in the compliance database.
  • Explain code requirements, corrective actions, and quality-control expectations to owners, contractors, and the public in clear, professional language.
  • Recognize unique or complex plumbing challenges, evaluate alternatives, and provide technically sound solutions while exercising sound judgment.
  • Maintain effective, courteous relationships with clients, contractors, and internal teams; respond promptly to inquiries and service requests.
  • Assist the inspection management team with outreach, permit-processing assistance, and proposal preparation for new data-center projects.
  • Perform routine office duties such as data entry, filing of inspection records, and updating of compliance software.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by the Manager to meet departmental objectives.
