About The Position
Greene County Public Health is seeking a Plumbing Inspector contractor for the Environmental Health Department. This is a temporary, exempt, contractor position that expires September 18, 2026. The role involves conducting plumbing inspections, reviewing and approving plans, drawings, and specifications for plumbing installations to ensure compliance with state and local laws, codes, and regulations, as well as plumbing specifications. This position works under the general supervision of the Environmental Health Director.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
- Seven (7) years of experience in plumbing including sanitary regulation.
- Six (6) months experience in plumbing installation and drainage inspection.
- Must possess Ohio Department of Commerce plumbing inspector certification.
- Candidate must hold a valid Ohio Driver’s license.
- Must be a dependable individual.
- Able to read and understand written instructions and maps.
- Able to add and subtract whole numbers.
- Must have an understanding of basic biology or science and be capable of learning to respond to questions and concerns from the general public.
Responsibilities
- Conducts plumbing inspections.
- Reviews and approves plans, drawings, and specifications for plumbing installations for compliance with state and local laws, codes, and regulations.
- Reviews and approves plumbing specifications as requested.
