About The Position

This position is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining pumps, pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution and waste water disposal throughout the Zoo and Park. Audubon Nature Institute comprises Audubon Park, Audubon Zoo, Audubon Aquarium, Audubon Insectarium, Audubon Louisiana Nature Center, Freeport-McMoRan Audubon Species Survival Center, Audubon Center for Research of Endangered Species, Woldenberg Riverfront Park, and Audubon Wilderness Park. Requirements

  • Journeyman certification in Plumbing from a recognized accredited post-secondary institution
  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum three years of experience working with electric motors, pumps, and plumbing.
  • Must have the ability to use mobile devices, computers, fax, scanner, phone, and copy machine.

Nice To Haves

  • Able to operate equipment such as backhoes, skid steers, and forklifts.

Responsibilities

  • Act autonomously and professionally in all areas of responsibilities.
  • Respond to Work Requests in a timely manner.
  • As needed repair and replace property including, but not limited to motors, pipes, plumbing, etc.
  • Maintain equipment.
  • Recommend changes and solutions to Facilities related issues.
  • Maintain all building codes and installation requirements.
  • Reports safety concerns or hazards to the Plumbing Manager.
  • Accomplishes other tasks as may be required and assigned.
  • Must follow all guidelines, rules or regulations regarding Zoo and Park operations.
  • Must follow all regulations regarding animal safety and care.
  • Must have a willingness to participate in continuing education classes as deemed necessary by Facilities Director.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, evenings, and weekends is needed
  • Responsible for all water features within the zoo and park, including Cool Zoo.
  • Assists with cool zoo and lazy river repairs as needed.
