About The Position

EMC Mechanical Services is hiring a Plumbing Estimator to perform take-offs and develop estimates with clear scopes. The role assesses and quotes plumbing work, and answers questions within the estimator’s area of expertise for each project from before the bid date through completion of awarded jobs.

The estimator reviews drawings and specifications to determine whether EMC should bid, completes trade-specific take-offs, maintains vendor and subcontractor quote records, and prepares information for review ahead of bid submission. After a job is awarded, the estimator also assists project managers with questions and pricing change orders.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of experience in the mechanical contracting industry.
• Thorough knowledge of plumbing and the estimating process.
• Understanding of building, mechanical, and plumbing codes.
• Fluency with Microsoft Office and estimating software.
• Ability to learn new software quickly.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Fluent spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Download drawings and specifications for review and determine whether EMC is interested in bidding.
• Print drawings as required.
• Set up and maintain records of vendor and subcontractor quotes for each project.
• Review project drawings and specifications, and process revisions and updates as confirmed.
• Complete take-offs for the assigned discipline or trade.
• Combine project information and quotes and submit them for review at least 24 hours before the bid, before combining with other trades.
• Answer questions and assist project managers with pricing change orders after a job is awarded.
