About The Position

CMTA, formerly known as AMA Group, is hiring a Plumbing Engineering Intern for its 2027 Summer Internship program in the Los Angeles office. The internship is designed to give students a positive work and training experience aligned with their education and career goals. Interns work alongside experienced engineers in office and field settings and contribute to active client projects involving plumbing building-systems design. The position is based in the Los Angeles office, with an in-office schedule Monday through Thursday and work from home on Friday. Pay is $23–$24 per hour. Relocation or housing assistance is not available.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, and/or Revit.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong attention to detail.
Willingness to learn.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

Assist engineers with plumbing design tasks for building projects.
Support the development and modification of engineering drawings.
Assist with the design and layout of plumbing systems.
Attend and assist with field surveys and construction inspections.
Assist with the review of contractor shop drawings.
Develop an understanding of plumbing systems and their application within building projects.
Gain familiarity with applicable building and plumbing codes and standards.
Conduct research and analysis to support project development.
Maintain accurate project documentation and assist with reports and project updates.
Collaborate with engineers and other project team members to support project goals and deadlines.
Participate in training and learning opportunities to develop technical and professional skills.
