About The Position

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Mechanical Plumbing Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join the Tampa, Florida (FL) office. This is not a remote position. Responsibilities include Project Management in conjunction with lead engineer responsibilities, designing plumbing systems including all associated details, risers, isometrics, and specifications. The role involves performing system design calculations and equipment selections, laying out plumbing systems (sanitary, grease, domestic water, and fire sprinklers), and writing studies and reports for plumbing systems. The engineer will oversee MEP design from concept to completion, interface with clients and design teams, write responses to RFPs/RFQs, and mentor/coordinate designers and technical staff. This is an opportunity to work with a team on various projects and build professional relationships.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
  • Proven design experience with comfort and HVAC systems and related controls
  • Proven design experience with plumbing systems including water, sewer, and gas
  • Experience producing engineering and energy studies including comcheck, Title 24
  • Experience mentoring and coordinating the work of EITs, designers, and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects
  • Able to manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking ability
  • Ability to work individually or in a multi-discipline team

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in AutoCAD and Revit is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Project Management role in conjunction with lead engineer responsibilities.

  • Laying out plumbing systems including but not limited to sanitary, grease, domestic water, and fire sprinklers.
  • Writes studies and reports for plumbing systems when needed on projects.
  • Ability to oversee the MEP design of projects from concept to completion, including continuous interface with the design team and clients.
  • Write responses to Requests for Proposals and Requests for Qualifications for various clients and marketing opportunities
  • Mentor and coordinate the work of designers and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects
  • Manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance
