Requirements

  • BS/BA in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • 7-10 + years’ experience preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize projects, and adjust work against tight deadlines
  • In-depth knowledge of general building construction for piping systems is essential.

Nice To Haves

  • EIT or recent PE registration is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Prepare project deliverables and contract documents, including calculations, equipment and pipe design, and drawings.
  • Utilize knowledge of code compliance requirements and industry standards to develop system designs.
  • Survey existing piping systems and examine field conditions as required to support the development and completion of projects.
  • Review project scope and obtain deliverables and due dates.
  • Review building codes, client standards, and industry guidelines.
  • Review equipment lists for relevant process utility design requirements.
  • Perform engineering calculations.
  • Design and engineering of plumbing systems: sanitary waste and vent, laboratory/process waste and vent, storm water, domestic and laboratory hot and cold-water systems, natural gas systems, and tempered water.
  • Prepare contract documents using AutoCAD, Revit, and Plant 3D (produce floor plans, details, and P&IDs).
  • Oversee junior staff and provide leadership and guidance.
  • Provide construction administration (assist in answering RFIs and reviewing shop drawings).
  • Attend project meetings.
