About The Position

Murphy Company is seeking a Plumbing Engineer or Designer to work in a Design-Build and Design-Assist environment in the St. Louis, MO office. This group works closely with the sales, estimating, and construction groups in addition to the primary engineering design duties. The Murphy Engineering staff focuses on a wide variety of commercial, institutional, and industrial applications to support our current work program.

Requirements

4 years' experience or equivalent in facilities design, in markets such as healthcare, higher education, or commercial.
Experience working with IPC and UPC plumbing codes.
Competent in REVIT & AutoCAD.
Self-starter who works well with others and likes being challenged
Able to plan, prioritize, organize and manage responsibilities on multiple projects
Excellent organizational, technical, communication (both written and verbal), and documentation skills, and be capable of working in a team environment
Conceptual knowledge of plumbing equipment and systems.
Ability to create riser diagrams/flow diagrams/piping layouts

Nice To Haves

BS in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree
Goal to obtain CPD certification
Estimating experience, a plus
Construction experience a plus

Responsibilities

Assist Estimating and Pre-Construction groups to provide construction proposals.
Define system requirements and equipment selections for design-build work
Generate plans and coordinate with other trades
Ensure designs meet all applicable codes and safety standards
Prepare and approve shop drawing submittals from vendors
Develop and maintain CAD/BIM standards and details
Expectation to engage in a rotational training program to learn the multiple facets of the contracting business, including Engineering, Operations, Preconstruction, and Estimating
