About The Position

Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled tasks involved in the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of plumbing equipment, mechanical systems and related equipment, fixtures and piping in City buildings and facilities; and performs related duties as assigned. The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Plumber in the Department of Public Works. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to six (6) months or up to one (1) year, depending on employment status. Pursuant to the Teamsters collective bargaining agreement, full-time non-probationary employees successfully completing the assessment process will be placed on an eligibility list to be used to fill vacancies in this classification for up to six (6) months. Probationary full-time, part-time, temporary employees, and external candidates who successfully complete the testing process will be placed on separate list(s), which may be used to fill vacancies for up to one (1) year. If the vacancy is not filled by full-time non-probationary employees, the separate list(s) may be utilized.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or the equivalent
• Three (3) years of qualified journey level plumbing experience
• Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483
• Must possess a current and valid journeyman certificate/card at the time of appointment
• Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check

Nice To Haves

• Possession of an American Water Works Association (AWWA) Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certificate within six (6) months of appointment, and maintenance of such current certification as a condition of continued employment
• Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire/transfer and be recertified every year.
• Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment
