About The Position

The Plumber position is a full-time, day shift role responsible for maintaining, installing, and repairing plumbing equipment to ensure the reliable and safe operation of the hospital plumbing distribution system. The hours are 7am-3:30pm, with variable weekends and holidays required.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
  • A current plumber’s license.
  • One year plumbing experience.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to use basic hand tools and the test equipment specific to the field.
  • Ability to follow written instructions, perform tasks and document actions taken.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate's degree (two-year program or two to three years of college) or equivalent formal training.
  • A current plumber’s license.
  • Five or more years experience, hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning, installation, and maintenance of hospital water and drain systems.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on equipment according to established procedures and guidelines and document results of activities performed to comply with all regulatory accreditation and licensing standards.
  • Performs corrective maintenance including diagnosing problems using electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or other sciences and document results of activities performed to comply with all regulatory accreditation and licensing standards.
  • Interacts with clinical staff to understand and resolve operational problems.
  • Completes Daily Time Sheet in AIMS to track work orders and preventative maintenance, and miscellaneous work done.
  • Determines need for replacement parts and supplies and order as appropriate.
  • Coordinates and monitors support efforts with outside service organizations when necessary to make sure the work they perform is appropriate and documented.
  • Maintains age specific safety precautions including: No small, sharp objects, or tools that may injure patients or visitors will be left out. Hallways and pathways will be free of debris, equipment, tools and liquid spills.
  • Promotes teamwork by keeping others informed, participating effectively in group decision making, working to accomplish team objectives and projects, and by soliciting feedback about one's effectiveness as a team member.
  • Continually improves processes by seeking ways to eliminate and reduce waste.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
