About The Position

This is a full-time, in-person, and essential position within the Division of Facilities Management - North District. The role involves working at and traveling to various CDHS facilities in the North District to repair, install, and maintain plumbing systems, buildings, and associated equipment. Work arrangements are subject to change. This position is responsible for performing journeyman plumbing work, including troubleshooting, installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing equipment and systems such as pumps, temperature controls, hot water heating systems, domestic water systems, and sewer and waste disposal systems. Responsibilities also include preventative maintenance, new construction, remodels, modification of plumbing systems, and assisting with project work. The role requires maintaining, testing, and repairing Life Safety Systems, ordering and purchasing materials, maintaining stock, and cleaning work areas. Reading and interpreting blueprints, diagnosing material failures, and preparing accurate reports are also key duties. Call back and on-call duties apply for essential services outside of scheduled hours.

Requirements

  • At least three years of full time plumbing experience that led to the Colorado Plumbing license (Journeyworker/Master). This experience must be clearly documented in your application.
  • Currently possess a valid and active Journeyworker or Master Plumber license issued by the State of Colorado.
  • State of Colorado residency at the time of application, and residency within the state throughout the duration of employment.
  • Must be willing to submit and pass a full background check.
  • Must currently possess and maintain throughout employment in this position, an active and valid Journeyworker or Master Plumber license issued by the State of Colorado.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid non-restricted Colorado driver’s license.
  • Out-of-State Driver’s License holders must obtain a valid, non-restricted Colorado Driver’s License within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Must successfully pass Motor Vehicle Check.
  • Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a document for a medical exemption or a letter for religious exemption.
  • Must successfully pass a Tuberculosis (TB) test.
  • Must be available to respond in person to after hours calls via call back to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay and/or interruption.
  • Will be required to work various hours for coverage, weather related issues and essential/emergency services outside of normal business hours.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting, installation, repair and maintenance on plumbing equipment and systems including pumps, temperature controls, and hot water heating systems, domestic water systems, sewer and waste disposal systems.
  • Perform journeyman plumbing work that includes: unstopping commodes, sinks, floor drains, replacing washers, seats, traps, valves, supply lines, handles stool seats and related plumbing accessories and fixtures.
  • Repair and / or replace equipment, components, devices, or complete systems which are not operational, broken, damaged, outdated, or obsolete that allows systems to operate as intended or increasing efficiency.
  • Complete preventative maintenance checks, routine work orders and are responsible for new construction, remodels, or modification of plumbing systems including irrigation systems, and assist with project work as needed.
  • Maintain, test and repair Life Safety Systems including fire hydrants, standpipes and fire suppression systems.
  • Order and purchase materials, maintain stock in the warehouse and clean vehicle, warehouse and shop areas.
  • New construction, remodels, or modification of plumbing systems, i.e., drains and vents.
  • Assist with project work as needed.
  • Perform new installation and/or renovation of water, back-flow, sewer, fire line, life safety systems, various mechanical systems and fixtures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints.
  • Obtain and follow various material installation instructions and diagnose material failures related to maintenance work and problems, and research alternate materials.
  • Prepare records and perform accurate reporting with timely response on daily task sheets, leave slips, work order sheets, log books, inspection forms, purchase receipts and other administrative forms as necessary to allow for efficient work flow and documentation.
  • Order and purchase materials to complete daily assignments in a timely manner.
  • Maintain stock in the warehouse and in their assigned vehicle.
  • Maintain and clean vehicle, warehouse and shop areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Respond in person to after hours calls via call back to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay/interruption.
  • Rotate after hours on-call and be able to respond, in person, to after hours calls to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay/interruption.
  • Work various hours for coverage, weather related issues and essential/emergency services outside of normal business hours.
